I bought this bass in 1980 from Norm Harris (Norm's Rare Guitars) for $1200. when he was located in Reseda Ca. Sold it to Mandolin Bros. in Staten Island NY on Columbus Day 1992. Don't have the scratch ($10995.) to repurchase it but just incredible to see it after all these years.

Wow That's killer. I suppose it begs the question, why'd you get rid of it?

I wish I could get a hold of my first bass. Nothing as exciting as a 1960 P Bass, but it was a Westbury Track II that I flipped around lefty, yanked the frets out of and shellacked the neck (poorly), and painted over the finish (more poorly) in an abstract acrylic design to look similar to Adrian Belew/Eddie Van Halen guitars of the time (it ended up looking like the Partridge Family bus). I was in a band with Jaco's percussionist, and traded it to him for a Dr. Rhythm drum machine. I'd get in touch with him to see the whereabouts of the bass now, but he moved back to Brazil.

I've been trying to find my first bass for years, a rather nondescript early 90s Fender Squier. Sold to pay the rent while in school. Haven't found it yet, but have two that I've purchased thinking they may be the ones...which reminds me that I need to post them for sale

Sold it to pay some bills. I had just come off a four month layoff from my day gig and the proceeds paid the mortgage for 3 months. My first bass was actually a used 1964 Dakota red lefty P Bass I paid $125. for in 1967. It was so long ago there wasn't yet a sales tax in New Jersey! Sold that one in 1974 for $350. to We Buy on 48th St in NYC to fund a new Ric. from Manny's. One of many dumb ass things I've done over the years.

Smalltownmusic's ebay page is much more organized that his 1980's based list webpage. And not everything on the list is on the Ebay page which doesn't surprise me because those list webpages are a pain to maintain.

Hindsight is 20/20 eh?

For all those who read this thread remember if you have the option do your best to never sell, trade or loose your first real bass. For me I was lucky to purchase an 80 Ric that I used for 90% of all gigs for 16 years. This summer the band from 1980 are getting together for a reunion gig and I am the only person in the band with my original axe I now know after 36 years it was a good choice. It's not my favorite bass to play anymore but alot of great memories and every ding on that bass is mine and I know where it came from.

For those under 25 years old hope this helps you in your decisions.
