That's a lot of $$ for a used Fender 5er even with the Audere pre. Top off with the $150 shipping..... Ouch!!

You can get them from Ishibashi shipped new with your own specs. Too bad those weren't real blocks.

Don't see the year listed, and as most of us know, UPS ground shipping in the ConUS would be about $25-35...

the serial number puts it at 1994-95

I agree this is steep for a used one, and the fake blocks are just tacky. I paid only a couple hundred more for a like new 2011 Lull M5V. this should be more in the $800-1000 range tops..

Agree with your price... and for a "few" hundred more the Lull is a much better value IMHO....

Hi guys, this is not a mid 90's bass, Fender Japan didn't put these out in lefty until around 2005/6. I've lived in Japan on & off since 1988 so I definitely would've seen them before if they had made them then, & would've bought one. My guess is 2008, in accordance with the serial #. Of course, I could be wrong but given my constant hounding of music shops & collection of old catalogs dating back to '89, I've never heard of one existing, unless this was a MIJ custom shop jobbie. YMMV.

I was going by this:

http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... ct-dating/

in the picture it looks like the s/n is S089660 and says 'Made in Japan'

Made in Japan S + 6 digits 1994-1995

Crafted in Japan S + 6 digits 2006-2008

But this could be wrong, I dunno!

"Made in Japan" is used on some current Fender Japan models (2007) instead of "Crafted in Japan".
I'll drop by to the nearest shop to confirm it is indeed Made in Japan.
Old MIJ had all caps MADE IN JAPAN while new MIJ has Made in Japan.
And I think that they're back at being called Made in Japan now. Aren't they?
Yes, correct. before - MADE IN JAPAN then became - Crafted in Japan and now - Made in Japan

Stingray 5, thanks for your reply & you got me thinking about this so I googled & found some info on various old TB threads. Your info is correct but it seems that as these were never intended for export, marketing thought 'made' sounded better than 'crafted' to Japanese minds and switched back.

The price he's asking is way too much but it is a rare bird outside of Japan & even in Japan, I've only ever seen 1 in stock & they are now discontinued so....supply n demand
