never seen a 3-piece Fender body so ... ummm ... skewed off centerline like this one :?

to account for any perspective shifting, I ran a red line down the centerline of the neck and then copied it parallel out to where the wings are glued on. I then created two bue lines running along the wing glue joint (to be clear that this image isn't perspectively distorted, notice that the two blue lines are roughly parallel to each other and not skewed towards a nearby vanishing point)

I suspect somebody was fresh from the paint booth when this body template was placed onto the blank

it's totally playable and shouldn't cause any issues with set-up ... just weird that this made it past QA

all the best,

R

i honestly doubt that is the original finish.

only a fool would leave the bass natural with such horrible wood cut.

It's interesting how the grain is angled on the backside, but the grain on the front appears to go straight up and down. Certainly not a deal breaker... just the way things were done back in the 70's.... or so I think.

Yep, first thing I noticed was the ill-fitted neck heel/pocket. I think Fender's QC issues began around this time and throughout most of the 70's. Note that the neck screws seem to be drilled crooked as well (upper neck plate screw's lower than right).

I'll bet it sounds killer with a set of flats on it though. ;)
