Hey this bass is being sold by ricktim83 from the board here. Don't see him much on the board lately so I thought I'd give it a plug because he's a good dude (I've done biz with him before) and this is a killer bass:

Thanks dude! Yea I've been pretty mia around these parts lately, but it's because of touring so I guess that's never really a bad thing. Someone snag this puppy up! I'd rather it go to someone on here so I can buy it back when I'm not broke haha.

I swear I see far less early 80's lefties around than 70's Fenders, and I have to assume that either these instruments are too good to let go or there perhaps rarer than Fender's 70's output. Both could be true.

I've seen it too. I was born in '83 too and I kinda fancy it.

The fact is that a lot of Fenders of the early 80s were build with 70s parts (necks with S8 serials was used up until 83) so you might get a fender believing it's from the late 70s and instead you have a 80s body with a 70s neck. Conclusion : you cannot know if a bass is late 70s or early 80s if you don't look behind the pickguard (routes ecc)

You'd be right if you were talking about a Fender bass made between '78 and '82. However, this bass was made in '83, and those were different in many ways from the '78-'82 basses. If you knew what those differences were, you'd know that Ricktim's bass is in fact an '83.

Yes i was talking about the fact the early 80s fender basses aren't seen that often for sale ... just because they are sold as late 70s basses (IMO of course) !!

Again, i read somewhere that the 70s necks with S8 S9 serials were used until 1983.

You can't believe everything you read.

Unless I wrote it, of course.
