Hey guys,

I'm a guitar player wanting to venture into bass playing.

I am having trouble finding a bass under $500 that is left handed and available in Australia.

I'm looking to play jazz, blues, classical.

Thought someone might have an idea or have something they want to offload.

Are you looking at a full scale or short scale bass?
Active or passive, pbass or jazz style bass.
Not many music stores have lefties in stock, so eBay
Maybe your to go place. Where in Australia are you?
There's a lefty music shop in Perth PK music. Google them.
I might have one or two basses for sale. An ibanez sd soundgear and a vantage from the eighties both lefties.

shipping to Australia is expansive so you might have a little problem finding something under 500$
from outside of it.
I know of more then one sales in which the deal breaker was shipping. (paying over 200$ for shipping on 300$ bass makes no sense)
there is an Australian company who makes specializes in lefty insturments.
gaskell maybe?

Hello mate,

Here's a place I've found with a good selection:

There's lots of love on this forum for the Squier VM 70's Jazz- very versatile, plays well out of the box (with a little set-up), and is an excellent platform for mods down the line. You can get one here for $469 AUD. The other VM Jazz is also pretty good, and a tad cheaper at $429. Sometimes the wood choice/matching for the body can be a little "rustic" on the VM Jazz, but it does not effect the playability at all.

Here's what forum menber Bill did to his:

Here's mine:

Happy shopping,

Cheers,
Dave

+ 1 for the VM Jazz. I own and have owned a lot of basses included some USA made Fender and I use my VM 90% of the time. Even without any mods it sounds great. You don't need to change the pickups. I only changed the bridge saddles on mine.

Thanks for all the input!

I have scoured Ebay, Gumtree and most online AUS music stores I could find.

I was definitely keeping the vm 70s in mind. The two squires were the only ones I could really find.

Maybe that's all there is :o
