my web scouring turned up a big goose egg, so I was going to have batch of chrome lefty plates custom made ... and then my house/shop sold and I put this on hold.

since I'm revisiting a few plans, I'll drop you a note with the cost if I get a batch made before you find one elsewhere. if you do find them, please feel welcome to drop me a note if you don't mind

all the best,

R

One of the guys on Leftybass.com has a homebrew bass with the lefty control plate on it. Maybe shoot Arni and email and ask him to get in touch with the guy about the plate.

I'm thinking a Tort pickguard would go nicely with the Vintage White

I found a place that makes these in a chromed plexi-glass for $15US, and supposedly can have them made in chromed metal for $35US. The shop is closed for vacation until next week, so I can't verify this with the actual manufacturer.

I'm going to see if they'll offer a quantity discount on 10 chromed metal plates.

all the best,

R

Nice score, Rodent. You've located the missing link. :) That was the one part I could never find when I was considering building my own.

You know, I guess one solution could be to get a righty one and do a tracing and get one made at WD or something out of the mirrored pickguard material. May be pricey. I'd like to check out the company that made the one pictured above though.

http://www.pickguardian.com

all the best,

as anyone who inquired found out, Pickguardian no longer does anything made from metal

I've been looking, sending numerous RFQ's all over the continent, and have received no replies (with one exception) ... until today! I'm meeting with a guy who runs a small machine shop out of his garage on the weekends, and he's interested in providing me a formal quote on these :D

if I have the funds, and he's willing/capable of a high quality product, I'll initially be ordering 10 plates as long as my cost is under the $50USD threshold per unit

hopefully I'll have more good news in the coming days!

all the best,

R
