IMO, you'd be better served holding out for an NT. I had a BO 4 string before finding my NT 4 string Thumb and there's no contest, IMO. The NT has a much richer tone, perhaps slightly less "snap" and brightness to the tone than the BO, but still plenty if you're into the slapping thing. I found the BO to be a bit sterile and one dimensional sounding. Just my 2 cents. |

Forgot to mention another reason why I favor the NT: The neck profile is noticeably more manageable than the infamous baseball bat necks that Warwick uses on their BOs. |

I'd have to agree with this - just got a BO Thumb 5 in a trade, and was surprised at the neck profile feeling so heavy and cumbersome - Wenge used to make it doesn't help I reckon. Got it for the tone though and that sounds pretty much what I was expecting. If it's not as good as the NT, well so be it (but it's also a way into Thumb tone for a lot less than a NT will cost you). Don't think the NT vs. BO is a universal thing though - Wals have always been bolt-ons and I don't remember anyone complaining about their tone. |
