These are pretty tough to find at the moment. Let me know if you have one you're willing to let go. Looking to spruce up my sunburst '78.

I only have a Gold Plastic Pickguard that I got but never used as it does not even come close to the feel.

Researching all over and found myself right back here- Great thread on this topic from 2013- viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4890

I think I will consider the flipped approach (seems to have worked beautifully for sblueplanet!), or have tone guard make one for me if that doesn't work. Thanks everyone!

Good to know, I was considering this approach too. Thanks for the insight.

I want an anodized for my white P Bass and maybe one for my sunburst Jazz Bass.

I might check out these guys

You could also just buy a righty and flip it.
Most of them are painted in the back in the pot area for shielding but there's a lot of them that are nice and clean, just need to ask the seller to send a picture of the back side.
Then you'll need to counter sink the screw holes.
I done that in at least 3 pickguards and all of them came out great.

@ leftybassati

Ask the guy to see the back of it. I have one that doesn't have anything on it. Some have shielding tape.

Here is one on talkbass. You can flip it and as Paulo said you'll need to counter sink the screw holes.

good luck!

You may have already considered this, but the original anodized pick guards have 10 holes so they wouldn't be a direct replacement on your 78. If it's a player drilling extra holes may not be an issue. Not sure if there are any aftermarket or RI 13 hole guards produced that would be a exact fit.

This looks pretty clean on the back side and could be used as lefty. Pics of the back side on the listing.

The top of a right handed one is slightly beveled around the edges, at least the one that was on one of my basses. I didn't bother me much, but there was a ledge.

For my 58P reissue I ordered one at WD Custom. They had one lefty in stock at the time. Including non-anodized rings around the potmeter holes so these would make proper contact (as anodized aluminium is a good isolator). Highly recommended!
